![]() Quote:For years, Jennifer Lawrence was the biggest movie star in the country, driving “The Hunger Games” to nearly $1.5 billion in U.S. Is that what is driving her change of tone, and her hiring of a manager? These are some questions I'd like to hear the thoughts of the board on. I believe it might be something we want to discuss at least, but it's clearly something that is showing up on the radar in Hollywood about Jen.Ĭould this be why she's not working? She certainly has softened her tone a bit, toward Trump voters, not Trump himself obviously. I think we might have missed this from the Washington Post a few days ago. My academic mentor once described it this way: It was like when Liz Taylor's Cleopatra was coming out it was huge-every Jennifer Lawrence movie is like that. In the end, any actor that manages to imbue themselves with even just the slightest hint of risk and danger is doing well. But, ultimately they have served to explode the frame her career had been given, and make her less predictable. That disruption jarred some, thrilled others, and left some shaking their heads. But, they have gone a long way to disrupting the comfortable view critics had settled into with her. The risks she's taken may not have exactly paid off in the short term. But, I'm certainly subscribing to everything else you say. Well, I hesitate to throw all the eggs in the Bad Blood basket just yet. When she wins her second best actress Oscar for Bad Blood, I won't be watching the broadcast after her acceptance speech. What I'll be doing instead is cackling at the hater meltdown on Twitter! There's of course, a chance that info pertaining to Bad Blood will find its way into the public sphere before then, possibly when Adam McKay is out promoting Backseat, but otherwise I suggest we settle in for a long winter. However we choose to interpret this interlude though, I think we need to be prepared for the fact that the absolute earliest we can anticipate hearing about any new project is somewhere, possibly in the fourth quarter of the year. It's no surprise that the two things might coalesce from time to time. With nothing specific to talk about or anticipate, we're left to either stew about recent "failings", or conjecture wildly about vagaries of the future. It's up to each of us to decide whether to be cool with that or not, but either way I get it. The reality we need to accept, is that Jennifer will not be shooting anything, or working on anything, probably until late next year, at the earliest. I doubt the extensions have any real significance. Yeah, I just don't know why she'd be doing screen tests for Burial Rites at this stage. Could she have been doing screen tests for Burial Rites while she was in LA? Hey, I'm grasping at anything I can get a hold of! (08-20-2018, 04:29 PM)lostindc Wrote: Remember the extensions? The description of Agnes is "Pretty, with long hair". Jennifer's talent is undeniable, and over the past few years she has taken risks that have only deepened the respect those with integrity have for her. Sometimes, even good people get swept up in groupthink and what is the cool notion of the moment. ![]() I don't expect it to be unanimous, of course, that's why I put in the qualifier: "integrity." It's already happening with Yes, I think time will add perspective to the perceptions of Jennifer's recent work, and those with integrity will re-evaluate more positively. ![]()
